This all goes back to the mashbill, the whiskey world’s term for a recipe. Bourbon must also be made from a certain percentage of corn in the mash. Never the less, i thought it would be useful to do some research and list some of the big whisky / whiskey / bourbon brands and whether or not they can be classed as gluten free (again if you are allergic to gluten/celiac it is best not to drink them at all).
Even though it can be made using wheat and grains that contain gluten, the gluten is removed from the bourbon during the distillation process.
Never the less, i thought it would be useful to do some research and list some of the big whisky / whiskey / bourbon brands and whether or not they can be classed as gluten free (again if you are allergic to gluten/celiac it is best not to drink them at all). However, be on the lookout for hidden gluten in bourbons that add flavorings or other additives after distillation. They are all aged in oak barrels, but bourbon is aged in barrells that have been charred first.
